Who am I?

My name is C. James (Jim) Harris, and I’m a freelance photographer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. For more than 20 years, photography has been both my creative outlet and my way of exploring the world—near and far.

I’m drawn to landscapes that invite a sense of pause and possibility. From the intricate architecture of historic European cities to the quiet beauty of a lone prairie grain silo silhouetted against a glowing sunset, my work aims to capture moments of escape, wonder, and stillness. I’m fascinated by how light, space, and structure come together to tell a story without words.

Photography has also become a mindful practice for me—a way to step away from everyday routines and see the world with renewed attention and curiosity. Each image reflects not only a place, but a moment of presence: the calm between thoughts, the beauty often overlooked, the feeling of simply being there.

Photography is more than capturing images—it’s my way of pausing, wandering, and finding wonder in the world around me. Each photo is a quiet invitation to step away from routine, to see with fresh eyes, and to discover the beauty that often goes unnoticed.

I hope my photographs offer you a brief journey—an invitation to slow down, explore, and see the extraordinary in both distant landscapes and familiar horizons.

“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”

– Dorothea Lange (Photographer and Photojournalist)
